Team Sleep consists of a group of friends that includes members of such groups as The Deftones, Crosses, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Marilyn Manson within their ranks. The group’s 2005 selftitled debut album captivated the world with its experimental and at times unclassifiable amalgamation of musical styles. While reception for Team Sleep was positive, the individual projects of the members didn’t leave much time for a proper follow up. However in October of 2014, close to ten years after their debut, Chino Moreno, Chuck X, CrookOne, Rick Verret, Todd Wilkinson and Gil Sharone descended on at Applehead Studios (Coheed & Cambria, Chiodos ) in upstate NY.

The resulting record "Woodstock Sessions Vol 4" includes powerful reworkings of their classic material as well as official versions of songs heretofore only appearing in demo form.

With just a demo, a split, and an EP released under their repertoire, UK death metal band CRUCIAMENTUM already had a reputation as one of the most prominent death metal prospects today. With not even a full-length album released to their name, the band have already brought an awareness to the genre akin to what their counterparts in DEAD CONGREGATION and GRAVE MIASMA (in which CRUCIAMENTUM share two members with) have brought forth within the modern age of death metal as one of the leading bands within the new era. Even though at the time, with just their “Convocation Of Crawling Chaos” demo from 2009 (recognized as one of the best demos of modern day death metal) and their “Engulfed In Desolation” EP from 2011 under their belt, the band were quite active on the live front respectively. Having done several European and U.S. tours, played many exclusive shows, and played notable festivals such as Hell’s Pleasure and Killtown in Europe and Maryland Deathfest, Chaos In Tejas, Rites Of Darkness (twice), and Martyrdoom in the U.S. All this without the band having even released a full-length album. Following a slight hiatus, CRUCIAMENTUM would inevitably resurrect itself to finally deliver their debut full-length album “Charnel Passages”. Their mightiest work yet, “Charnel Passages” has already been deemed as one of the most anticipated death metal albums of the year. “Charnel Passages” is true dark death metal majesty in every sense of the word and will stand as the death metal monument of 2015. With dark atmosphere, pummeling brutality, and skillful playing all rendered with a clear yet massive, warm, and natural sounding production, “Charnel Passages” will make its impact on the death metal scene unlike any album in the genre released this year.

Philadelphia, PA’s PISSGRAVE are a new brutal and raw death metal band who have only one demo cassette, which sold out pretty much immediately, released under their name prior to their debut full-length album “Suicide Euphoria”. They have created a bit of a buzz in the American death metal underground, especially after supporting DEAD CONGREGATION on a short U.S. tour in the fall of 2014 which showcased the band’s devastating live set.

With their debut full-length “Suicide Euphoria”, PISSGRAVE have created one of the sickest, rawest, most depraved and violent death metal releases of the year. Sounding unlike anything going on in death metal today, PISSGRAVE will reveal themselves as one of the most promising prospects in underground death metal today.

In the early seventies West Germany was a great touring area for British rock bands. Here bands like Steamhammer, East of Eden or Curved Air got almost even greater success than in their homeland. This also included the Canterbury scene jazz rock band Soft Machine, the band was announced high, especially in college towns. These recordings were recorded during the tour in Germany in 1971. The tracks are known pieces from the legendary albums of the band "Third" (1970) and "Fifth" (1972), but the sound here is very dynamic and therefore novel. First of all the release shows an even greater devotion to jazz and free jazz. The quality of free-spirited saxophonist Elton Dean together with the influence of the brilliant drummer Phil Howard is outstanding. Most of the titles come from the pen of mastermind Mike Ratledge, who as always makes a convincing figure behind his Rhodes piano, and Hugh Hopper on bass is an institution in Soft Machine - been microstructure. These four guys supply an incredible stage performance, full of variety, Tempi- and chord changes, intensity and playfulness. Excursions in free jazz realm certainly delight as the successful versions of Soft Machine - classics like "All White", "Slightly All The Time" or "As If" - as examples only. A captivating sound document, which was prepared by Sireena sound guru Marlon Klein meticulously for a release on vinyl. The album is released, as we know it from Sireena, in a limited edition in colored 180 gram heavy-weight White vinyl.

"Theory Of Mind“ is impulsive and vibrant acidrock with all it’s acoustic spectral colours! Recorded in February 2014 at the „Kosmodrom“ in Heidelberg, this release yet again captivates with it’s excellent live sound, which perfectly renders the relaxed mood of the concert. The music itself is psychedelic acidrock at it’s best and comes in very powerfull, cool and trancy. It carries the listener in a pulsating and hypnotic manner to the place where the moon sprays it’s electric sparks: Into the endless cosmos of psychedelic music. Yet again, Electric Moon manage to provide what they promote: "The psychedelic experience“. The CD comes in a jewel case with beautiful, magic painting and design made by Lulu Artwork !

Although born from the '80s New York garage scene, the Optic Nerve had nothing whatsoever in common with the movement other than their single-minded idealism to act as if the '80s and the synthesized music that surrounded them was not happening. Rather than using the blaring fuzz tones and screaming "put down" anthems of the garage rock revival, they took the jangling motifs of the Byrds, the Beatles, and a hint of the mid-'60s protest singers to create a sound that, if spawned in 1965, may have brought them success. In the mid-'80s however, '60s-styled folk-rock was not a huge seller—even with fans of the neo-garage scene. Acts like the Fuzztones, Cynics and Lyres may have achieved cult underground status, releasing a number of records between them and touring across Europe, but the Optic Nerve only released two singles during their brief existence and rarely played outside of Brooklyn.

Bobby Belfiore (main songwriter and singer) formed the nucleus of the band in 1985. Over their two-year tenure, a number of musicians went in and out of their ranks. However, lead guitarist and harmony vocalist Tony Matura was a mainstay, and the combination of his and Belfiore's sweet harmonies and folk-rock jangling gave the Optic Nerve their distinct quality. In 1993 and 1994, both Screaming Apple and Get Hip released posthumous albums, consisting of demos recorded throughout the mid- to late '80s.

In mid January 2005, Bobby and Tony got together with Tom Ward [Gravedigger V, Nashville Ramblers] on bass and Mike Linn [Iron Gates] on drums to record an album’s worth of material, which, for a variety of reasons, never saw the light of day. Fast forward 10 years, and State Records are very pleased to be able to offer 2 of the best cuts from that proposed album, and what a pair of gems they are! ‘Penelope Tuesday’ is instant summer hit material, a winning combination of the band’s trademark catchy riffs and joyous vocals, propelled by a bouncing, upbeat rhythm. The flipside, ‘Here To Stay’ shows the introspective, moodier side of the ‘Nerve, with a fragile, laid back approach— sparse, uncluttered, perfect. M

That unique style made its debut on French Boutik's first two copaseDisques releases: Les Chats de Gouttière (2012) and Ici Paris (2013), which both received fantastic reviews.

Ayahuasca Cumbias Psicodelicas Vol 1

Album:Ayahuasca Cumbias Psicodelicas Vol 1
Genre:Psych/Garage Reissues

What have we here? At first glance it seems like the missing volume from our Groove Club series, which it so easily could have been! In short, it's a stunning collection—which took more than fifteen years to put together—of tracks that combine cumbia with psychedelic rock. Starting in the late 1960's, there was a boom of tropical music in Peru, both in Lima and the provinces. The music called ‘cumbia peruana’ merged this tropical sound with that of psychedelic rock. Peculiar aspects of traditional Colombian cumbia were mixed with electric (often fuzz) guitar, played over native Andean and jungle rhythms; this combination provoked an explosion of original musical styles: an instrument to lead the way, usually from the introduction of the song; over this, hypnotic layers of keyboards or guitar with wah wah, and simple bass-lines; to top it off, syncopated rhythms from percussion instruments such as bongos, congas, huiros, cymbals, timbales, among others, often played at breakneck speed, to drive the song forward. Simple, funky, effective. In the end, it's like a sonic cousin to Nigerian music: these musicians liked guitar, they had a fondness for echo, and they loved a murky high-octane jam. Extremely limited mini-LP sleeve disc with 20- page bi-lingual, glossy, color booklet enclosed with photos and some background info on the bands and the development of the Cumbias Psicodélicas sound. Like all Lion/Repsychled titles, this is available exclusively worldwide from Lion Productions and our friends.LTD to 200 copies.
