AS THE VALLEY OF DEATH BECOMES US

Band:A STORM OF LIGHT
Album:AS THE VALLEY OF DEATH BECOMES US
Label:Profound Lore
Format:CD
Genre:METAL/POST ROCK

Josh Graham is an artist who has had many avenues where he has expressed his artistic vision. Whether it would be through the visual direction he’s involved with the band NEUROSIS, through his filmmaking (Graham has directed videos not only for NEUROSIS but for such bands as THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, and ISIS), and through his graphic design work (SOUNDGARDEN, SHRINEBUILDER etc.) Graham has also had quite the musical palette at his disposal likewise. Along with currently being in NEUROSIS, and previously being involved with such critically acclaimed acts as RED SPAROWES and BATTLE OF MICE, it was with A STORM OF LIGHT where Graham found a true musical vision that helped to define him as an artist even more. With already two albums released by Neurot Recordings, A STORM OF LIGHT are preparing to unleash their third and most essential album yet, “The Valley Of Death Becomes Us, Our Silver Memories Fade”.

By combining the likes of such genres as sludge metal, doom metal, industrial, and post rock (with the natural comparisons to NEUROSIS obviously arising), A STORM OF LIGHT have created a stirring cinematic musical vision that has put them above their peers in the genre in which they dwell in. And to add even more dimension and color, “As The Valley Of Death Becomes Us…” features none other than SOUNDGARDEN guitarist Kim Thayil laying down some of his signature guitar work on two tracks (‘Missing’ and ‘Black Wolves’). The album also features guest appearances from JARBOE (ex SWANS) and Kris Force (AMBER ASYLUM).

RIYL - Neurosis, Godflesh, Swans, Isis, Etc

SURRENDER TO ALL LIFE BEYOND FORM

Band:DARK CASTLE
Album:SURRENDER TO ALL LIFE BEYOND FORM
Label:Profound Lore
Format:CD
Genre:Death Metal

The duo that comprise Florida’s DARK CASTLE (vocalist/guitarist Stevie Floyd and drummer Rob Shaffer) have been known as doom metal’s version of The White Stripes. The male/female combination of this experimental sludge/doom band formed in the mid-section of last decade and grabbed the attention of doom/sludge metal circles with their 2008 “Spirited Migration” debut (released after their selfreleased “Flight Of Pegasus” EP). But it was also through the duo’s live shows in which would really amaze crowds; how merely two people would conjure such earth rumbling and colossal heaviness. Just through their live performances alone, DARK CASTLE can easily be classified as one of the heaviest bands in America today. And since then, the duo of DARK CASTLE have relentlessly been touring and making their mark as one of the most unique bands in doom metal today. Here is a band who has somewhat side-stepped some of the stereotypes associated with doom metal. Where DARK CASTLE effectively portray their vision not through elongated time-stretching songs, a characteristic synonymous with pretty much all doom metal bands, but through shorter, more punishing, yet dense and vitriolic songs that range from a wide array of influences (apart from traditional doom and sludge) that include influences that come from noise, exotic and Eastern-world influenced sounds, experimental music, drone, black metal, and prog respectively.

Features guest appearances from Mike Scheidt of YOB, Blake Judd of NACHTMYSTIUM, Nate Hall of U.S. CHRISTMAS, and Sanford Paker (MINSK, TWILIGHT, NACHTMYSTIUM, THE HIGH CONFESSIONS etc.)

For fans of YOB, NEUROSIS, SUNN 0))), LURKER OF CHALICE, ZOROASTER, and BARONESS!

THE ORGAN HEARTS

Band:ARMS AND SLEEPERS
Album:THE ORGAN HEARTS
Label:Expect Candy
Format:CD
Genre:Dance/Electronica

The Organ Hearts is the 3rd full-length album by Arms and Sleepers, following up on the recently released mini-album Nostalgia For The Absolute and the first single, Tusk (featuring a remix by Helios). Written and recorded throughout 2010 and early 2011, The Organ Hearts finds Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic collaborating once again with Ben Shepard (of Uzi & Ari) and Philip Jamieson (of Caspian). Unlike Matador, the band's sophomore effort, the new record features significantly less guitar and focuses more on electronics and drum-heavy compositions. Pulsing beats and driving synths replace the lush glockenspiels and melodicas of the previous album, while concise song structures and haunting melodies remain.

The Organ Hearts is divided into three sections, much like the band's debut full-length album, Black Paris 86. Each part acts as a soundtrack for the ever changing daily and seasonal frames of mind, a cinematic reflection of our complex feelings and delicate emotions. In the end, the journey through the record embodies the opposing forces of our actual lives: excitement vs. anguish, clarity vs. confusion, satisfaction vs. longing. Acting collectively through the three sections, these 12 individual compositions paint an arresting picture encapsulating our life's variation and unbearable tenderness, but also evoking a sense of hopefulness that might be waiting around the corner. Nothing is certain, but not everything is lost. The album's poetic subtitle, then, seems to be quite appropriate: The Things That Make Me Feel Weak And Strange Get Engineered Away

BITTEN BY WOLVES

Band:THE KEYS
Album:BITTEN BY WOLVES
Label:SEE MONKEY DO MONKEY
Format:CD
Genre:Garage Punk

Hailing from the Welsh capital of Cardiff, contemporary psych-rockers The Keys are back with their signature brand of cosmic flavour to release their first full-length album, ‘Bitten By Wolves’.

Having risen from the ashes of the much lauded Murry The Hump – once labelled by Alex James of Blur as ‘the best new band in Britain’, counting Damien Hirst and the late Joe Strummer as fans and notching up several John Peel sessions – The Keys are a band whose musical pedigree cannot be argued with.

Drawing on a range of quality influences from Animal Collective, Captain Beefheart, Can, Spirit, The Black Keys, Frank Zappa, Panda Bear and Spiritualized, The Keys adeptly blend together the new and the old, sitting alongside the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Coral, Malachai, Tame Impala and The Bees. ‘Bitten By Wolves’ was recorded and produced by the band themselves, with frontman Matthew Evans at the helm (and a little help from El Goodo’s Pixy Jones on the haunting ‘When You’re Young’).

CAPRICORN

Band:ORCHID
Album:CAPRICORN
Label:THE CHURCH WITHIN

Genre:Stoner/Doom/Occult/Sludge Metal

"Orchid have delivered an absolute masterpiece with 'Capricorn' that should be seen as the benchmark for all other retro-rock bands, it is so good that you may never listen to Witchcraft, The Devils Blood, Jex Thoth and these kinds of bands ever again after you hear this. I always knew that this was going to be good but I was expecting something in the same standard as their EP, this goes way beyond my expectations and deserves every bit of a 10+/10 rating." - Doommantia.com

Orchid will play the Hammer of Doom festival 28/29.10 and will be on the road in Europe with their label mates Seamount + Lord of the Grave

CD Packaged in a high quality 8 pages CD-Wallet and 24 paged booklet!
