THE TENANT

Band:LUDICRA
Album:THE TENANT
Label:Profound Lore
Format:CD
Genre:Black Metal

For the better part of the decade, one could make the assertion that San Francisco’s LUDICRA (christened as metal’s most underrated band by respected metal blog Invisible Oranges) have been one of, if not the most respected metal band within the Bay Area’s underground metal scene, the one metal scene to emerge from America that has proven itself to have the most artistic fervor amongst the many musicians who dwell within it. LUDICRA were one of the first bands to help bring the Bay Area black metal movement more to the forefront (alongside bands like Weakling) as they were one of the first bands within the San Francisco metal scene to fuse black metal elements (more or less inspired by the second wave of Norwegian black metal) and combine them with punk (since some of LUDICRA’s core members come from a strong punk background), traditional metal, and even moments of neo-folk.

II

Band:ASTEROID
Album:II
Label:FUZZORAMA
Format:CD
Genre:Rock

The history of Asteroid is a psychedelic space saga, timeless and endless, with no upside or downside, but with a beautiful ending. The band, formed during the winter of 2003, have undertaken a long musical journey and developed a sound well fit to the trio constellation. After being formed as a regular stoner band, it didn’t take long before new grounds were conquered. Since then, influences have been collected from blues and British 70’s classic rock, but also from Swedish traditional folk music. Asteroid is now back with their second album, called simply “II”. It is a more evolved but also relaxed and groovy follow up to their highly acclaimed debut album.

Metal Hammer - 5/7: “Their Psychedelic Rock starts with Hawkwind and Cream, moves on to Iron Butterfly and ends at Manfred Mann`s Earthband. some Krautrock from Necktar or Percewood’s Onagram completes the journey into dream galaxies...retro can be that beautiful“.
