GOING HOME WITH

Band:ROMAN & THE ROSARYS
Album:GOING HOME WITH
Label:SOUNDFLAT RECORDS
Format:LP
Genre:RHYTHM N BLUES/ROCK

ROMAN AND THE ROSARYS channel the trance like monotony, the drama and the female worship of the Rosary prayer into 12 minor key dance numbers. “Going home with Roman and the Rosarys“ was recorded by Jim Diamond at Living Room Sound and features Roman Aul (REDONDO BEAT) on Vocals and Guitar, Maximilian Schneider (REDONDO BEAT) on Drums and Thomas Bruchhäuser (THE SATELLITERS) on Bass. On their debut album they hijack early 60s Memphis and Detroit RnB numbers and twist them, in alignment with Roman Aul’s originals, into little 2 and a half minute soap operas that plea for salvation on this journey to paradise. If it's their captivating approach to classics such as “Wade In The Water” or “Baby Don't You Weep” (original by FRED BRIDGES), or breathtaking one‐of‐a‐kind tunes like “Confusion, Trouble and Despair” or “Chains Of Time” that sound both exciting and elaborate, almost like a brilliant version of NICK WATERHOUSE that meets JAMES HUNTER SIX. You'll have no choice but to fall in love with this album from the start!

SHOUT SISTER SHOUT - A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO THE BOSWELL SISTERS

Band:HENRY GIRLS, THE
Album:SHOUT SISTER SHOUT - A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO THE BOSWELL SISTERS
Label:BESTE! UNTERHALTUNG
Format:CD
Genre:FOLK JAZZ

Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin: In their home in the North of Donegal, the three sisters have been known for many years as the Henry Girls. The musicians convince above all by their complex three-part singing and are regarded as one of the most important new folk ensembles in Ireland. On their livealbum "The Henry Girls & Band Perform The Music often The Boswell Sisters" the musicians take a bow before the legendary Boswell Sisters, who in the 20s and 30s of the last century created were the most successful American ladies' singing trio. The album was performed live as part of the concert series "Shout Sisters Shout: A Musical Tribute To The Boswell Sisters By The Henry Girls". The recordings were created in a circus tent in Malin: that is the name of the picturesque little town on the peninsula of Inishowen, the Home of the Henry Girls. The concert was part of the Eragail Arts Festival 2019. "We had this evening a wonderful audience, which is now also part of the recordings," the Henry Girls write. The Boswell Sisters ventured their first musical steps in the vaudevilles of New Orleans and moved confidently between jazz, blues, dixieland, ragtime and gospel. In 1931 they moved to New York, made recordings with the legendary Brunswick label and played with the top Jazz musicians of their time, including Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller. Beginning of the 30's they appeared in some movies and were regularly in the radio show of Bing Crosby to see. With the song "When I Take My Sugar To Tea" from the Marx Brothers film "The Marx Brothers on See", which is one of the highlights of the live album, they came out really big.

Counting Pennies in the Afterlife, the new album from Colour Me Wednesday, is clever, personable, and not just an enjoyable but also a thought provoking way to spend its length. Rather than getting bogged down by vague political jargon, the album is full of striking, personable storytelling that puts a face to the ideas the band stands for. Label:SOUNDFLAT RECORDS
Format:LP
Genre:GARAGE/ROCK/SURF

Here comes a Garage‐Surf‐Punk'n'Roll‐trio that will blow your mind: beware of THE MINGS!! They have not just one but three secret musical weapons to offer: One is British musical allrounder Sir Bald Diddley, who already brought to us bands like his Rockabilly‐combo “Hipbone Slim & The Kneetremblers”, “The Legs”, “The Beatseeking Missiles”, “The Kneejerk Reactions” and lately also his Fratrock/Surf/Exotica/Teensound‐band “Sir Bald Diddley & The Ripcurls”. Number two is Dutchman Dead Elvis, who (with his One Man Grave) is the infamous king of onemanband zombie rock'n'roll. The third secret weapon of THE MINGS is Brazilian Marky Wildstone, mastermind behind Wildstone Productions & Records and drummer of legendary surf‐combo THE DEAD ROCKS. In THE MINGS they teamed up to play some great primal Garage/Surf/Punk'n'Roll to go wild to! Expect some raw, screaming killer‐tunes out of the garage – snotty, wild and Lofi‐surfy tunes that are cool, crazy and fun at the same time! If it's catchy hit‐tunes like “Had My Fill” and the title‐song “I Can't Win”, or hot instrumentals like “Ming Vs Ming” ‐ you'll certainly find no fillers on this album! So get ready to enjoy this fantastic debut of transcontinental garage‐rock‐trio THE MINGS!!

Label:CPL MUSIC
Format:CD
Genre:WORLD JAZZ GRIOT

JMO: three Countries – one Language! The music of JMO - Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland), Moussa Cissokho (Senegal) and Omri Hason (Israel) is a reminiscence of the art of storytelling. The trio creates a tension of traditional and modern music from Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The sparkling sound of the Kora (African Harp with 26 strings) meets the warm tone of the Bass Clarinet and the oriental percussion. „Tandoula Tala“ is the second release of the trio. It means „no borders!“ in Mandinka, a language spoken in Gambia, Mali and Senegal. The songs are written by the three musicians and reflect their different backgrounds.

KRAITIS IS PELKES - THE DOWRY FROM A SWAMP

Band:SEN SVAJA
Album:KRAITIS IS PELKES - THE DOWRY FROM A SWAMP
Label:CPL MUSIC
Format:CD
Genre:FOLK LITHUANIA

Sen Svaja is a Lithuanian experimental post-folklore band from Vilnius. They enrich folk songs of different nations with distinctive arrangements. In Prussian language ‘Sen swajjais’ means ‘with relatives’, ‘with your own’.Connecting Baltic traditions and music with traditions and music of other cultures, Sen Svaja believes that a ‘relative’ does not in particularly have to be someone who is close to you, but also the one you make ‘your own’. The band Sen Svaja consists of three women. All of them possess origins of pixies. Agota is pinching the strings of the zither, Živilė - tickling the drums with her stone-like fingers, Dorota - exulting from the top of a birch. On the third day of the young Moon, they met up in the depths of the forest, in an abandoned bathhouse. After refreshing themselves by drinking some water vapour they pulled out a DOWRY FROM A SWAMP.

FOLK AND GREAT TUNES FROM RUSSIA

Band:VARIOUS ARTISTS
Album:FOLK AND GREAT TUNES FROM RUSSIA
Label:CPL MUSIC
Format:2CD
Genre:FOLK WORLD RUSSIA

Dear friends and fans of exciting new music, once again, I have spared no effort and now I am delighted to bring you this insight into Russia’s vibrant music scene. At music conferences, festivals and exhibitions I kept bumping into Daryana Antipova from Russia. We talked extensively and there was no shortage of ideas, but we never got around to putting them into action. When her band Vedan Kolod started gathering pace again and she approached me about working together on a release, I didn’t hesitate. And before long, the conversation returned to music in general and the Russian music scene in particular, and the idea to put together a sampler of Russian music emerged. Daryana started sending me a whole host of fascinating artists and I was so impressed and, frankly, overwhelmed, that I was happy to put her in charge of the project. I love listening to these CDs and I hope that you enjoy immersing yourself in the fabulous music of this vast country as much as we do.
