Album:VOL. IV - LIVE FROM DE NILE
Label:H42 Records
Format:LP
Genre:DESERT PUNK ROCK/STONER ROCKE

The Whiskey Knives‘ Hidden Valley Reeder Ranch Dressing Sessions. Recorded live at the sanctuary Studio in Banning, California. Drummer Alfredo Hernandez has been in so many ground breaking music projects over the years. His contribution to the desert rock scene is great and he is most always in several projects at one time. Alfredo may be best known for his work with first Kyuss….and then the band born from its ashes, Queens of the Stone Age. After a couple of decades playing not just stoner rock…but punk rock…his other passion…with Family Butcher, which featured John Summers on vocals and Jon Arnold on guitar along with Kevin Smith on bass…Alfredo and Jon Arnold have pushed forward with a new punk inspired project, Whiskey & Knives These LA badasses have a rep for crankin' the pit into overdrive. With a sound that blends the best parts of Fu Manchu and Suicidal Tendancies, their live show is a must for any respectable punk. For Vol.4 Reeder and Herndez played together for the first time since the KUYSS years - Sounds so powerful.

EMAK BAKIA

Band:MUSLIMGAUZE
Album:EMAK BAKIA
Label:OTHER VOICES RECORDS
Format:CD
Genre:EXPERIMENTAL/AMBIENT/ TRANCE/ACIDHOUSE

We have repeatedly surprised you with unusual releases that sound uncharacteristic for wellknown artists Remember Merzbow with guitars, synth (almost said synth-pop) and drum machine? Well, Muslimgauze's turn came up. Emak Bakia long out of print masterpieces from 1994. Even in the huge Bryn Jones' discography Emak Bakia really stands out of albums from the period due its rather unique (house-music related) sound and short, by the standards of Bryn Jones, tracks. Like a crossmix between Psychic TV (circa Towards Thee Infinite Beat) and Muslimgauze's trademark percussion and eastern vibes. Re-mastered and with new stunning artwork. TRACK LISTING 1. Afghan Rev. V.01 2. Y.A. Rev. V.01 3. Missing Tibetans Rev. V.01 4. Y.A. Rev. V.02 5. Afghans Rev. V.02 6. Missing Tibetans Rev. V.02 7. Lahra Salam Rev. V.01 8. Y.A. Rev. V.03 9. Afghans Rev. V.03

Recorded at Roadburn Festival 2018 where Zola Jesus was invited by Jakob Bannon of Converge to play at his curated day. Zola Jesus is the stage name of Russian American musician Nika Roza Danilova. Under the name Zola Jesus, she has released a number of genre bending EPs and albums. Her approach is a cross pollination of electronic/industrial, classical, and gothic sounds. All of it coming together as a dark and emotional artistic experience. Jacob Bannon (Converge) about inviting Zola Jesus for his curation at Roadburn Festival 2018. I first heard Nika s work on the Stridulum EP (Sacred Bones, 2010). Every aspect of the release connected with me and it soon became a daily listen. The record (and all of her work) was relatable and infectious. I ve been an avid listener ever since. Watching her artistry grow and deepen over time has been inspiring. DJINN

Band:UADA
Album:DJINN
Label:Eisenwald
Format:CD
Genre:Black Metal

Since their formation in 2014, Uada's rise has been meteoric. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, the band quietly released their debut album, Devoid of Light, in 2016 through Eisenwald, and word of mouth quickly built from there: here was BLACK METAL writ large, classic and uncompromising but brimming with power, soul, and artistry, and all without bluster and bathos. Uada's debut album surely expanded the lexicon of the melodic black metal idiom, and the underground took notice. Two years later came Cult of a Dying Sun, whereby the band further perfected their craft and compellingly took to the stage, their performances garnering as much acclaim as their recordings. During all this, more than the underground started to take notice; the name Uada was on the tongues of folks usually reticent to black metal. Now, almost effortlessly, Uada fully perfect their craft and deliver their masterwork: Djinn. Simply titled but by no means simple in construction nor execution, Djinn builds upon the increasingly ambitious songwriting of its no-less-considerable predecessor, but pushes their dazzling artistry into nearly Technicolor landscapes of the Beyond. Upon the first opening notes, this boundless artistry is felt: big, rolling rhythms reminiscent of post-punk, tantalizingly setting the stage for the splendorous expanses to follow. There's a certain magick at play here, no doubt bolstered by the band's rhythm section of Josiah Babcock (who puts in his final performance here) and new bassist Nate Verschoor, erstwhile mainman of Veiled; this throttling-yet-deft foundation both leads and plays acute counterpoint to the spiraling, windswept riffing of founders Jake Superchi (also vocals) and James Sloan, their guitar work transcending the poignancy of prior works. And indeed, Djinn's generous six-song/hour-long runtime no doubt allows the listener the ultimate freedom to roam within Uada's ever-unique world, spanning both smothering speed and deliriously dream-like states, Very Metal urgency and textural exploration alike - put simply, the band at the height of their creative powers. Djiin is truly its own realm of experience. TRACKLIST 1. Djinn 2. The Great Mirage 3. No Place Here 4. In the Absence of Matter 5. Forestless 6. Between Two Worlds
