HUMINOITA

Band:HUMINOITA
Album:HUMINOITA
Label:LUOVA
Format:CD
Genre:Prog Rock

“A band that cannot be described as traditional, for as far we can speak of traditional when post rock is what we're talking about. These Finnish guys have passed the boundaries of regular post rock, played with the appropriate instruments like drum, bass and guitars. Huminoita's base surely is the aforementioned genre, but lots of their influences come from genres like stoner, psychedelic rock and jazz.” – Backround Magazine / USA

“Damn. Huminoita is a missing link between Sigur Rór and Ash Ra Temple!” 4+ out of 5 ! Imperiumi / Finland

WASTE

Band:SOFY MAJOR
Album:WASTE
Label:SOLAR FLARE
Format:CD
Genre:Postrock / Post Hardcore / Noise

From the post-industrial wilderness of Clermont-Ferrand, France’s violently addictive hardcore-soaked noise rock outfit, SOFY MAJOR, has completed their third LP “Waste”. With just under forty-two minutes of new material, Waste undoubtedly sees SOFY MAJOR charting new boundaries, and at a more relaxed pace. While not shying away from their rampant outbursts completely, the raging appears more subdued, with slightly more melodious sensibilities enveloping its delivery.

The grimy Unsane/Harvey Milk/Hammerhead-influenced Big-Muff sonic core of the band’s delivery is here fused to a rocked-out underbelly analogous to the output of Coliseum, Rising, Floor, and the like. Calling once again upon their trusted engineer team, SOFY MAJOR enlisted Dave Curran (Unsane, Pigs, Big Business) to produce Waste, this time on home turf to avoid hurricanes, recording the album at Black Box Studio in France. The output was then mixed by Andrew Schneider (Pigs, Julie Christmas, Unsane) at Translator Audio in Brooklyn and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering.

“The roads travelled by post-hardcore, the caustic noise-core of Unsane and guitar acrobatics of Cleveland favorites Keelhaul converge at French band Sofy Major.” – Invisible Oranges

"The energy and clarity of Sofy Major, combined with its excellent execution under difficult circumstances, make their album both a triumph of aesthetic and will." 8/10 Exclaim

WRONGER

Band:PIGS
Album:WRONGER
Label:SOLAR FLARE
Format:CD
Genre:Postrock / Post Hardcore / Noise

When UNSANE bassist Dave Curran started writing songs on guitar with drummer Jim Paradise (Player’s Club, Freshkills, Hellno) the name they tossed out for their fledgling project was simple: PIGS. “We figured it was short enough that press and promoters couldn’t fuck it up.” Producer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Converge, Made Out of Babies, Unsane, Keelhaul) was invited to fill-in on bass for a couple of shows and, much to their delight, has refused to leave. The sound? PIGS sound like the last forty-five minutes of that interminable haul from Portland to San Francisco when both patience and air conditioning are long gone; like a petty, early-morning drunken argument in a gravel parking lot about the stupid, impossible math of how to divide forty-one dollars three ways; like when the left rear bearing on the van that’s been squealing and then grinding for days finally gets hot enough to weld itself into the axle and the ancient Detroit Deathtrap grates to a final, shuddering halt. Pigs sound like three guys who have played countless shows in many bands for a couple of decades in several dozen countries and still can’t leave it alone.

"Pigs is a good reason for a pent up tyke like yourself to move to the big city or, if you’re already here, to stop whining about RIP NYC on your status updates" - VICE

DENSE FOG

Band:FUNERAL MOTH
Album:DENSE FOG
Label:THRONE
Format:VINYL LP
Genre:Stoner/Doom/Occult/Sludge Metal

Throne presents the vinyl version of Japanese extreme Doom debut album. Funeral Moth formed back in 2005 and, as common in the ancient Japanese tradition, have been cautiously, slowly, firmly evolving, step by step, until their debut album is finally unleashed! Funeral Moth is made up of members and ex-members from other Japanese bands such as Coffins, Psycho To Black, Deathchurch and Realm. "Dense Fog" instills eerie melodies by 2 guitars and a 6-strings bass guitar, minimalist yet smashing drums, and growling guttural voice. Extremely slow rhythm and contrast of dark tranquillity versus extreme aggression. Here's 4 songs, about 74 minutes of extreme Doom that should be so! Justin Hartwig from Mournful Congregation contributed excellent lead guitar. This is very resembling of late era Corrupted, with Funeral Moth's own sound though.

IMPERFECTION

Band:NADJA AND VAMPILLIA
Album:IMPERFECTION
Label:THRONE
Format:VINYL LP
Genre:Stoner/Doom/Occult/Sludge Metal

Throne presents the vinyl version of the second collaborative album between Canada's Nadja and Japan's Vampillia. Imperfection was recorded as if both bands were one, with Nadja playing their world-acknowledged thick unearthly droning wall of bass and guitars, while Vampillia arranged the doomy acoustic drumming, beautifully harsh classical strings and piano. This instrumental voyage will take you to the highest peaks in a crystal-clear sunny day only to drag you to the blackest abyssal ocean's depths right afterwards. Includes brand new artwork.

DEMO XXIV

Band:SERPENTS LAIR
Album:DEMO XXIV
Label:THRONE
Format:VINYL LP
Genre:Black Metal

This is the vinyl version for SL's awesome 2014 debut demo! Serpents Lair is probably the most talented and devastating Black Metal to come out of Scandinavia in a good while!!! For their debut album will be out within 2015, we felt the need to arrange a very limited vinyl version of their one and only demo tape. Serpents Lair are leading the new breed of Scandi Black, and they've crafted two long intrincate, technical, complex yet feral, raw, merciless pieces of their own Black Metal brand. Few new bands can claim to possses their own distinctive sound since the very first recording, Serpents Lair are one of the chosen. This is destined to become a classic in the genre in the years to come.

FUNERAL BITCH - 1985

Band:MASTER
Album:FUNERAL BITCH - 1985
Label:DOOMENTIA
Format:CD
Genre:Death Metal

This is the story of an album that refuses to die, no matter what. This is the story of MASTER‘s doomed-from-the-start first attempt at recording a full-length… See, when the band (then already led by Paul Speckmann on bass and vocals and completed Chris Mittleburn on guitar and Bill Schmidt on drums) had signed with legendary US company COMBAT RECORDS on December 31st, 1984, the plan was to get into the studio asap in order to lay on tape whatever material the band had in store back then, including „Mangled Dehumanization“ and „Re-Entry and Destruction“ recorded with DEATHSTRIKE few months prior. Having recently lost his father, Speckmann vowed to invest all the money he got from the inheritance and the band locked themselves up in Seagrape studio. Alas, soon disagreements rose with COMBAT and in the middle of the session, their recording contract was cancelled, leaving them no choice but to abort the whole project after seven tracks had been recorded. Although the result was never officially released until much later, rough mixes soon circulated through the tape-trading circuit, making a huge impression on many future big names of the genre, like Mick Harris from NAPALM DEATH, Bill Steer of CARCASS fame, Nicke Andersson from NIHILIST/ENTOMBED and so on. Even if most of those tracks were re-recorded five years later for MASTER‘s proper debut album, many fans still hold those original and raw versions as the ultimate MASTER recording.

Regardless of the fact that these songs have been issued officially twice on CD - ten years ago by DISPLEASED RECORDS as ‚Unreleased Album‘ and earlier this year by VIC RECORDS, this time around they are being released under the new moniker ‚Unknown Soldier‘ with an exclusive cover done by Mark Riddick. This is the first timethese tracks are being made available on vinyl. Even if it includes the same four bonus tracks as the CD version, to make it even more special, it‘s been once again given a new title (‚Funeral Bitch‘) and a new, more fitting and blasphemous artwork, rounded up with the usual high quality standards DOOMENTIA is known for. So, as Speckmann said it himself in the song that gave the band its name: „We are your Masters/So set your soul free!“

BLACK INFERNAL VORTEX

Band:BRUTALLY DECEASED
Album:BLACK INFERNAL VORTEX
Label:DOOMENTIA
Format:CD
Genre:Death Metal

Freshly off from their Czech tour with Dr. LIVING DEAD celebrated by the release of the highly-praised split LP with INTERMENT (already released by, you’ve guessed it, DOOMENTIA), BRUTALLY DECEASED have wasted no time bowing once again in front of the old Swedeath altar. While some hide behind so-called progressive tags and others deny the evidence, the quintet have never denied what their goal was from day one and ‘Black Infernal Vortex’ is once again no exception!

Recorded at the Davos studio last April like all their previous releases and still boosting former and current members of various veterans of the Czech extreme metal scene such as JIG-AI, HEAVING EARTH, or PSYCHOTIC DESPAIR, those nine brand new songs take the heritage of their 2010’s debut ‘Dead Lovers’ Guide’ and run with it further down the abyss. Its striking cover designed by Paolo Girardi (BLAPSHEMOPHAGER, INQUISITION, CRAVEN IDOL etc.) is the perfect reflection of what those thirty minutes have in store, a totally uncompromised, raging and raw-as-fuck take on the classic sound of the Swedish school of death, yet with its own rabid-like flair. Old-school it may be but alive, well and ready to kill it is!
