THIS DAY IS A GOOD ENOUGH DAY

Band:PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Prince Edward Island first garnered interest after accidentally winning an XfmUnsigned competition they unknowingly entered, resulting in a slot at the O2 Festival, Hyde Park. A feature on BBC 2 Scotland’s music TV show Rapalquickly followedand their debut EP, Lies To Tell Tourists, was released on BabyBoom Records. Following a UK tour, single releases, BBC Radio 1 sessions at Maida Vale with Steve Jones and a regular slot as Welsh quirk-pop songwriter John MOuse’s backing band, Prince Edward Island finally find time to release their debut album ‘This day is a good enough day’ on 29th August 2011. With eleven songs hewn with PEI’s trademark brand of melancholia, dark wit and drinking sing-alongs, the album is a study in clever songwriting, littered with brutal yetheart-tugging lyricsthat manage to challenge and delight in equal measure.

“Any band that can combine Rolf Harris’ stylophones with Gretsch guitars and lyrics like ‘you look like I need a drink’ deserves serious attention” Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

ROSKOPP / DOUBLED OVER

Band:ROSKOPP / DOUBLED OVER
Album:ROSKOPP / DOUBLED OVER
Label:GIVE PRAISE RECORDS
Format:7" VINYL
Genre:Grindcore

Doubled Over starts their side blasting through dirty and raw brutal fucking riffs! And it doesnt stop. Ever. These Aussie's know how to play grindcore, in a way that takes you back to California in the mid 90's. Super tight, Super fast, Super heavy Roskopp doesn't know how NOT to play fast. The drums are some of the fastest most blistering drums I've heard from any band of any time. All the guitar work reeks of early regurgitate, and the vocals are low and guttural as you can get, rivaled by screaching highs. Roskopp make some of the most honest, pissed off grindcore in the WORLD.
