JAMAICA NO PROBLEM?

Band:MACKA B
Album:JAMAICA NO PROBLEM?
Label:ARIWA
Format:CD
Genre:Reggae/Dub/Ska

Macka B was one of Britain's most influential dancehall toasters, pushing the music back toward a Rastafarian political consciousness. His rough, gravelly vocals gave him an instantly identifiable sound, and his production — chiefly handled by Mad Professor — updated dub reggae techniques for the dancehall age, proving that the two sounds weren't mutually exclusive.

"So In Love" is a carefully-arranged bouquet of positive vibes. THIS IS SANDRA CROSS

Band:SANDRA CROSS
Album:THIS IS SANDRA CROSS
Label:ARIWA
Format:CD
Genre:Reggae/Dub/Ska

Sandra Cross’ mix of sensuality and vulnerability was nicely presented on the nine songs featured on this CD. They were both reggae remakes of African-American soul hits and vintage lover's rock-style romantic fare. Sandra Cross’ covers of Mary Wells "My Guy" and The Stylistics Stop, Look, Listen" demonstrate the closeness between 1970s reggae and "sweet" soul, while "Holding On," "Bear With Me," and "Take Your Time" have soaring harmonies, superb arrangements, and her inviting leads.
