KRISTALLIARKKI

Band:SEREMONIA
Album:KRISTALLIARKKI
Label:SVART
Format:CD
Genre:Psych/Garage

Finnish heavy psych rockers Seremonia dive deeper than ever into the dark psychedelic abyss with their third album Kristalliarkki (The Crystal Ark). With lyrics (still all in their native tongue) revolving around the spiritual cult practices and teachings of a mysterious doomsday cult, the album also explores the cultist mindset musically. The heavy riffing, the psychedelic solos, the out-ofcontrol drum fills, the blood-chilling vocal delivery and the collective free rock freak-outs all go way beyond just playing good ol' heavy rock. Seremonia is a band on a sacred mission, possessed by the black flame of rock'n'roll. Kristalliarkki bears their trademark garage doom sound and catchy riffage, and adds an abundance of acid rock experimentalism, proto punk anger, sacred music bliss and even some cosmic jazz flawors in the 15- minute namepiece of the album. It's a hard rocking hard rock record, but a wonderfully weird one.

ORACLES AND PROPHETS

Band:VIDUNDER
Album:ORACLES AND PROPHETS
Label:Crusher
Format:CD
Genre:Stoner/Doom/Occult/Sludge Metal

Vidunder’s self-titled debut album (2013) was praised by the press as by the fans. Since then the band has, with their retro infused 70’s rock, done numerous of European tours and shared stage with bands like Graveyard, Horisont and Spiders. Now it’s finally time for the follow-up!

”Oracles And Prophets” is recorded analogy at Studio Möllan and Studio Celsius in their hometown Malmö, Sweden, along with producer Emil Isaksson. The sound on their self-titled debut with its raw attitude and unadorned simplicity has now with ”Oracles And Prophets” been refined in a tasteful way – the foundation is intact, but the sound has grown by more elaborate arrangements, thorough production and it has been given greater scope for melodies and longer experimental parts.

If the last album was a result of what we sound like if one knocks up a bunch of microphones and play rock, this is how it turned out when we worked with a more open mind and thorough work in production. We have brought new elements into the songs, both in terms of arrangements and instruments wise, to move forward and develop our sound, says singer and guitarist Martin Prim.

”Oracles And Prophets” is one of the 2015 most interesting rock releases and Vidunder’s fantastic voyage has only just begun…

LIVE AT SATYRICON

Band:DEAD MOON
Album:LIVE AT SATYRICON
Label:BURNSIDE
Format:CD
Genre:Garage Punk

Voodoo Doughnut Recordings presents a blistering-hot live recording by NW punk legends Dead Moon whose roots go back to the garage rock of the 60s (The Weeds, Lollipop Shoppe). Featuring husband-andwife team Fred and Toody Cole on guitar and bass, respectively, and Andrew Loomis on drums, the recording, from a single performance at Portland's now-defunct temple of grunge Satyricon on April 16, 1993, captures the seminal trio at the peak of their bone-crunching powers. Blending punk, garage rock and country, Dead Moon creates their own genre of raw, unmistakable stripped-down sound. The audio, originally captured on an 8-channel analog cassette tape, was mixed and mastered in late 2014 by New York punk and hardcore producer Don Fury. The result is a fully functional time machine back to the most gritty and dangerous-sounding days of Portland punk rock. CD

. “That Dead Moon remain of relative obscurity feels not so much a matter of oversight as a cosmic injustice.” ‐ Uncut

LIVE 1971

Band:MISSISSIPPI FRED MCDOWELL
Album:LIVE 1971
Label:ROCK BEAT
Format:CD
Genre:Blues

“I Don’t Play No Rock & Roll” Fred McDowell famously said, but many Rock &Rollers play Fred’s music. His bottleneck guitar playing is essential to the blues genre and has influenced countless players. Fred was an originator of a style called North Mississippi Blues or Hill Country Blues. The style has been carried on by Luther Dickinson, R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. Fred was born in 1904 and began playing guitar in his teens, but never made a recoding until he was “discovered” by Alan Lomax in 1959. He quickly became popular in both folk and blues circles. He played the Newport Folk Festival and toured Europe.

Among his many fans are The Rolling Stones who covered his tune You Got To Move, and Bonnie Raitt who he gave guitar lessons to. The recordings were made in the year leading up to his death and are legendary to his fans.
