YOUNG AND COOL

Band:WOAHNOWS
Album:YOUNG AND COOL
Label:SPECIALIST SUBJECT
Format:CD
Genre:POWER POP/INDIE/PUNK

Second full length from Bristol power pop trio Woahnows! It s been three years since the release of their last album Understanding and Everything Else (on Big Scary Monsters) and after 36 months of reflection, frontperson Tim Rowing-Parker s relationship with music and with themselves has shifted. Distancing themselves from a life of constant touring, they ve spent the past few years making a new home. It s a refreshing new stance that filters throughout Young and Cool. It s an album that explores our relationships with those around us, how we can care so strongly for our friends, for our lovers but that ultimately no one belongs to anyone. Just because I love you, doesn t mean you owe me anything, Tim adds. Friendship can be romantic, love and people can choose any or no gender. These songs are not a boy singing about a girl. They are about me worrying about people I love. Young and Cool is a collection of soulful pop jams with a punk heart that help alleviate the worry of fitting in. We're not young or cool at all, they add. When you think about it, no one's cool. TRACK LISTING 1. Something To Regret 2. World Explodes 3. No One Else 4. Your Dreams 5. Hippy Shit 6. I Know I Knooow 7. ...and Breathe 8. Dipping Out 9. You Explaining 10. Skin Peels 11. Whatever Works 12. Cold

GHOSTS ON BROKEN PAVEMENT

Band:MOUNT SHRINE
Album:GHOSTS ON BROKEN PAVEMENT
Label:Cryo Chamber
Format:CD
Genre:DARK AMBIENT/AMBIENT/DRONE/SPACE

Mount Shrine serves us his 2nd solo album on Cryo Chamber. A deep and meditative journey set both inside and outside an Urban setting. "The radio transmissions led you here, a city of memories past and passed. The streets lie silent as you watch from above the high rise. A twirling mountain casts a deafening shadow over this place. Here between the world of life and death you are but a tiny spec of dust on the shoulder of giants, a world built by the dreamers that came before you. The sleepers drift here, trapped in glitching time loops that crackle when reset." Ghosts on Broken Pavement is an album that takes us back to the safe embrace of childhood dreams. For lovers of deep subs, airy field recordings and harmonic drones this album is as atmospheric as it is beautiful. Deep drones, sweeping atmospheres and a mysterious setting creates an immersive setting for this sci-fi journey. Track Listing: 1. Gray-Tinged Suburbs 10:24 2. Underpass 09:16 3. Held Breeze 06:05 4. Inescapable Rain 07:16 5. Outsider Station 13:53 6. Empty Slopes 09:20

ARCTIC GATES

Band:UGASANIE & DRONNY DARKO
Album:ARCTIC GATES
Label:Cryo Chamber
Format:CD
Genre:DARK AMBIENT/AMBIENT/DRONE

Overview: Ugasanie's cold drones meets Dronny Darko's meticulous sound design on this dark and brooding arctic album. Two weeks you've been scouring the arctic sea. No sun since you reached the north, the dark water a constant fractured mirror that meets the universe above and pulls you into its black fold. Everything points to "it" resting beneath the ice, in a slumber of centuries. Three weeks, now on land, you're getting close. Down here beneath the ice you feel disconnected from the world, like you are leaving the present as you spelunk into the past. You snap another glow stick and throw it down the ice shaft, the light strobes off crystalline walls as it reveals an ancient structure below. The Arctic Gates. For lovers of cold atmospheres and a feeling of isolation. Track Listing: 1. Behind the North Wind 04:05 2. Wreck 06:54 3. An Object 08:04 4. 80T-54'08.8N 49T-51'38.3E 05:33 5. In the Polar Sea 09:34 6. Absorbed by Ice 03:46 7. Isolation Pit 16:00

ALIVE WITH SCARS

Band:FLOWERS FOR BODYSNATCHERS
Album:ALIVE WITH SCARS
Label:Cryo Chamber
Format:CD
Genre:AMBIENT/NEO CLASSICAL

Flowers for Bodysnatchers is back with a versatile dark ambient album blending multiple genre elements. Alive With Scars is an album that explores the life long struggle of living with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is an autoimmune disease where the body's own immune system attacks and destroys healthy tissue, in the case of MS, the healthy tissue is myelin, the protein that insulates the nerves in the spinal cord, brain and optic nerve gradually destroying the myelin that coats the central nervous system. Your body slowly beings wasting from the inside out by the subversion of its own central nervous system. A body that with the passing of time will waste and wither to its own unique sonnet of pain and torment. I personally have lived with MS for almost 10 years and, this album has been an on again, off again affair for almost as long. Did I even want to do this? Will people understand it? It has been a difficult subject to approach and express musically. Yet I found I had been subconsciously doing it all along. From the formidably depressing album Aokigahara to the melancholic spitefulness of Love Like Blood. The narratives represented in these albums were backed by the way my MS affected me and the people around me. It's a long journey and Alive With Scars continues both the physical and emotional process of living life, trying to keep one step ahead of it and, trying to say sorry for the times I got things terribly wrong. - Duncan Track Listing: 1. A Heart Less Darkened 08:18 2. Looking For Bernard Herrmann 08:22 3. Shiraz And Suicide 03:41 4. Vertigo 05:54 5. Blood In Her Mouth - Rain On Her Birthday 04:36 6. Human Demon 07:45 7. The Scar Entombed 05:10 8. And Then, Silence 06:53 9. We Are Like We Never Were 09:55

SPLIT

Band:CARDINALS FOLLY/LUCIFER'S FALL
Album:SPLIT
Label:Cruz Del Sur
Format:CD
Genre:DOOM METAL

The doom bell tolls twice as Finland s Cardinals Folly and Australia s Lucifer s Fall team up for a trance-inducing and ultimately epic split. Two bands willing to break with doom metal convention, Finland s Cardinals Folly and Australia s Lucifer s Fall team up for a split that brings the heaviness, might and magic! After the release of their 2017 Deranged Pagan Sons album, Finnish doomsters Cardinals Folly started thinking about their next move. Having independently issued their 2016 Coalition of the Anathematized split with Church of Void and Acolytes of Moros, Cardinals Folly was hoping to find a willing label partner for their next split venture. They found one in Cruz Del Sur Music, who agreed to release the split on vinyl, one of Cardinals Folly s criteria. One of the bands at the top of Cardinals Folly's list was Australia s Lucifer s Fall, who were also fresh off of an independently-released split of their own with Reclvse. Realizing the possibilities, Cardinals Folly and Lucifer s Fall teamed up for a split that finds both bands contributing three songs each. Originally formed in 2004 as The Coven, Cardinals Folly came into being in 2007 in Helsinki, where they proceeded to release their debut Heretic s Hangover EP in 2008. The Orthodox Faces EP followed a year later, culminating in the release of their first full-length, 2011 s Such Power is Dangerous! The ensuing Our Cult Continues! (2014) and Holocaust of Ecstasy & Freedom (2016) furthered the Finns doom cause, running up to Deranged Pagan Sons. Inspired by the idea of creating a smaller release, Cardinals Folly decided to maintain a running thread of Nordic mysticism through their three offerings on the split. While the Finns had dabbled in this subject matter on previous albums, here, they made it a priority, starting with the doom waltz of Walvater Unveiled and into the trance-like Spiritual North. Rounding things off is the ten-minute Sworn Through Odin s & Satan s Blood, which is Cardinals Folly s distinctive ode to Hammerheart-era Bathory. Formed in 2013 and with two full-lengths in addition to numerous demos, singles and splits to their credit, Lucifer s Fall are using the split with Cardinals Folly as a go-between studio albums as they continue to work on the follow-up to 2016 s II: Cursed & Damned. One of the few doom bands to make an impact in Australia, Lucifer s Fall could be viewed as their home country s answer to greats such as Electric Wizard, Pentagram and Saint Vitus. Employing a more traditional metal sound than before, Lucifer s Fall had one simple operative for the split: Write simple, aggressive and catchy headbanging tunes. This is achieved across Die Witch Die, Call of the Wild and The Gates of Hell, all three numbers reveling in distinctive imagery and the band s dynamic and lively approach, ultimately showing the versatility within Lucifer Fall s sound. TRACKLIST Cardinals Folly: 1. Walvater Proclaimed 2. Spiritual North 3. Sworn Through Odin s And Satan s Blood Lucifer s Fall: 4. Die Witch Die 5. Call Of The Wild 6. The Gates Of Hell
