KRAUT! DIE INNOVATIVEN JAHRE DES KRAUTROCK 1968 - 1979

Band:VARIOUS ARTISTS
Album:KRAUT! DIE INNOVATIVEN JAHRE DES KRAUTROCK 1968 - 1979
Label:BEAR FAMILY RECORDS
Format:2CD
Genre:KRAUTROCK/GERMAN PROG ROCK

The third part in our four-volume series on the history of progressive rock in Germany. Cross-label documentation of the only relevant German contribution to the international phenomenon of rock music. Progressive Rock from Germany! 2-CD (trifold digisleeve) with 112(!)-page illustrated booklet, 23 tracks. Total playing time approx. 133 minutes. Towards the end of the 1960s, German bands began their first attempts to emancipate themselves stylistically from their US and British role models. ProgRock and Pchychedelia from our country were initially smiled at internationally and disparagingly called 'Krautrock' by cult DeeJay John Peel, among others. Unorthodox formations could not be pigeonholed, and so a scene with a wide musical range was created. This third part is dedicated to the south of Germany and presents popular bands such as Embryo, Kraan, Volker Kriegel, Guru Guru next to Action, Dzyan, Sahara, or Octopus and Orange Peel. Mostly remastered from digital tape copies by Marcus Heumann without wasting the original sound. In most cases remastered from digital tape copies by Marcus Heumann without wasting the original sound. Compiled and commented on 112(!) pages by Burghard Rausch (DeeJay, vinyl collector, drummer, radio presenter/author and book editor). An exquisite selection of the exciting and influential bands of those days, some of which caused a sensation far beyond Germany. The four volumes are regionally structured. The third part deals with the south of Germany. All editions are compiled by Burghard Rausch and commented on in detail. The publisher of several books on 'Rock in Germany', radio author and presenter, drummer (Agitation Free, among others), vinyl collector and DeeJay with enormous expertise has already been in charge of the NDW ( Neue Deutsche Welle ) series for Bear Family. We are convinced that 'Kraut!' will be the most comprehensive CD documentation of this era, which has shaped the history of rock music in Germany, licensed by various rights holders! With the release of KRAUT!, Bear Family marks another milestone on the way to a comprehensive documentation of the history of popular music in Germany from the early 1960s to the mid-1980s. 'Smash! Boom! Bang!' covers the complete history of Beat music in Germany on a total of 30 individual CDs; the CD documentation 'Für wen wir singen - Liedermacher in Deutschland', consisting of four triple CD sets, describes the singer/songwriter scene with 274 individual songs, supplemented by the 10 CD box set 'Die Burg Waldeck Festivals 1964-1969'. And, finally 'Aus grauer Städte Mauern - Die Neue Deutsche Welle 1997-1985', Bear Family's four-part double CD series with popular and weird sound examples and a total of about 600(!) pages of accompanying text. These releases will also be available via Code 7 at a later date. SHALLOW OCEANS

Band:ICARUS PEELS ACID REIGN
Album:SHALLOW OCEANS
Label:BILLYWITCH
Format:CD
Genre:Rock

The first release on the newly formed Billywitch Records is unleashed this November and is by your favourite power-trio Icarus Peel s Acid Reign. A three-piece fronted by Icarus, the Acid Reign is much more than just a showpiece for Peel s solos. They perform songs that are memorable and psychedelically deep, with heavy guitar dynamics thrown in for good measure. The interplay between the band is essential and extraordinary, each song is given space to develop new horizons and is never played the same way twice. Shallow Oceans is their second album and like their debut it takes its influences from The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, The Groundhogs and Taste. Like the classic power-trios that inform them, Acid Reign soar from light to heavy, from minimalism to baroque and from dreamy reveries to gothic nightmares. If your taste is for extended guitar-driven acid rock you need look, nor listen, no further than Icarus Peel's Acid Reign. Their new album Shallow Oceans skilfully recreates a time when the world s most inventive guitarists where taking the instrument into uncharted territory but with great songs to tickle your earholes. Limited edition Features hidden bonus track not on the LP. TRACK LISTING Half Space 08:22 / Shallow Oceans 07:34 / We Come In Peace 05:35 Divided 03:06 / Dance Upon The Moon 06:29 / Symphony Of Groove 04:04 / Wishful Thinking 04:45 / Snakes 02:05

Alchemical Task (2020) is the third studio album from art rock duo Lore City, whose sound combines elements of psychedelia, post-rock, and dream pop. It has been six years since their last release, "Kill Your Dreams." and subsequent move to Portland, Oregon. Lore City’s music is born from the transformational power of sound. They create from the belief that we are all one, and that we’ve been here before. Song fragments are shimmering all around us, ready to transport. They tune in and transcribe. Sonic soundscapes give way to archetypal figures and voices materialize. LP jackets are printed on reverse board stock — featuring two artworks by Nancy L Greco. TAYLOR MADE

Band:KING SIZE TAYLOR
Album:TAYLOR MADE
Label:BEAR FAMILY RECORDS
Format:LP 10
Genre:Rock

1-LP (10inch) plus CD, 12-page booklet, LP 12 tracks, CD 27 tracks, limited edition. King Size Taylor - one of the great British rockers and member of the legendary Hamburg Star-Club family! Taylor was always a rocker and less of a beat musician. LP/CD combo; only 4 tracks are also featured on King Size Taylor's CD in Bear Family's 'The Brits Are Rocking' series 'Taylor Made' focuses on his best rockers recorded for Ariola and the rare Philips single Somebody's Always Trying. Twenty-five of the twenty-seven songs on the CD were recorded in 1957/58 in the living room of Sam Hardie, the Dominoes pianist, Taylor's band - legally available for the first time on this particular release. In the large-format booklet with liner notes by Marc Mittelacher, there are plenty of photos from Taylor's private archive showing him and stars of rock 'n' roll in the 50s. Carefully mastered and with a photo postcard originally signed by King Size Taylor as a bonus! We guarantee pure listening pleasure! Especially in Germany, King Size Taylor was known in the early sixties as a regular guest in Hamburg's Star-Club. In the Hanseatic city he performed more than 250 gigs between 1962 and 1964 and recorded exclusively in Germany during this time. Due to the creation of legends around the young Beatles, King Size Taylor also ran under the popular label 'Beat'. But on closer inspection Taylor was and always remained the real rocker from the British Isles. After his first musical attempts in a skiffle band (1957), the guitarist and singer, who was born in Liverpool on November 12, 1939, soon founded a rock 'n' roll outfit, which performed under King Size Taylor And The Dominoes from 1960 onwards and moved to Hamburg in 1962. Ariola released live recordings from the Star-Club. An album recorded a little later, 'Let's Do The Slop, Twist, Madison, Hully Gully ...' was released by the German Polydor label - under the pseudonym The Shakers. Single releases were also released in the UK, including Money, Whole Lotta Lovin' and Hippy Hippy Shake. Like the other numbers on the original LPs, these songs were cover versions of the hottest rock and R&B stars of their time. DRAGGIN WITH CURTIS GORDON

Band:CURTIS GORDON
Album:DRAGGIN WITH CURTIS GORDON
Label:BEAR FAMILY RECORDS
Format:LP 10
Genre:ROCK N ROLL

1-LP vinyl (10inch), booklet, 12 tracks Finally - legendary Curtis Gordon's rockabilly recordings on 10inch vinyl, original masters from 1955 to 1959! In addition to ten Mercury titles, two 1959 recordings for Dollie Records. For the first time both versions of the rockabilly classic Draggin' on one album! Plus rock 'n' roll classics like Rock, Roll, Jump And Jive or Mobile Alabama. For the first time on a Curtis Gordon compilation: the honky-tonk ballad Blue Lifetime. In addition, a richly illustrated booklet tells Gordon's story, including the mysterious story behind the two Draggin' versions! An absolute must for Rockabilly fans, collectors and vinyl freaks alike! Curtis Gordon Although Curtis Gordon never scored a hit during his career, his legendary rockabilly recordings, made for Mercury Records in the 1950s, established him as a rockabilly legend. The fact that he began recording country music and Western swing in the early 1950s only became known worldwide with the Bear Family releases of the 1980s and 1990s. The legend status got manifested when Gordon performed live again after years of musical abstinence headlining the Viva Las Vegas Festival in 2001. Draggin' This 10inch vinyl disc compresses all of Curtis Gordon's rockabilly classics, enriched with a country ballad stylistically inspired by Hank Williams and written by Luke McDaniel. In addition, two of a total of five rare songs that Gordon recorded for the Dollie label in 1959, which are considered the last recordings before his long absence. Enclosed with the record is an accompanying booklet, which contains rare photos and illustrations as well as a lot of information and a short biography and which tells the mysterious story about the two versions of the Curtis Gordon classic Draggin'. Both versions were released in 1956, but only one of them was reissued in later decades. So the ominous story of Draggin' has remained unsolved until today. We bring light into the darkness, but more will not be revealed here! Track list: Side A) 01 Draggin' (without echo - U.S. version) 02 Rock, Roll, Jump And Jive 03 Sixteen 04 Mobile, Alabama 05 Cry, Cry 06 Oh Lonely Heart Side B) 07 From Memphis To New Orleans 08 Sittin' On Top 09 So Tired Of Crying 10 Baby Please Come Home 11 Blue Lifetime 12 Draggin' (with echo - European version)

ROCK

Band:FRANK VIRTUE & THE VIRTUES
Album:ROCK
Label:BEAR FAMILY RECORDS
Format:CDD
Genre:ROCK N ROLL

Frank Virtue is a significant name when it comes to the history of the Philadelphia sound. The state of Pennsylvania with its metropolis Philadelphia, affectionately known as Philly by Americans, was a true melting pot of musical virtuosos during the rock 'n' roll era. Of course, one immediately thinks of Bill Haley, Charlie Gracie and Chubby Checker. The name Frank Virtue fits in seamlessly here. Not only did his studio work until the 1970s provide a solid foundation for Northern Soul, but years earlier he had already caused a stir with various rock 'n' roll formations.

THAT'LL FLAT…GIT IT! VOL. 35 MERCURY & LIMELIGHT LABELS

Band:VARIOUS ARTISTS
Album:THAT'LL FLAT…GIT IT! VOL. 35 MERCURY & LIMELIGHT LABELS
Label:BEAR FAMILY RECORDS
Format:CDD
Genre:ROCK N ROLL

Founded in 1945, Chicago's Mercury Records rapidly accrued major label status and grew into a full-service label, its massive roster encompassing everything from blues and R&B to country and jazz and a wealth of pop (the logo was a leader in covering R&B hits for the pop market). Mercury also signed a small army of quality rockabilly and rock and roll artists during the mid-to-late 1950s, and they're the focus of this bountiful collection. Blistering classics by a pre-fame Conway Twitty, Memphis mainstay Eddie Bond, and the still-active Narvel Felts are on board, along with rare gems by Curtis Gordon (his torrid Draggin' appears without the usual startling reverb effects)
