Gladiatori dell Apocalisse

Band:VIDEOGRAM
Album:Gladiatori dell Apocalisse
Label:CINEPLOIT
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Cinematic Music

Since its inception, Magnus Sellergren's Videogram project has been constantly surprising listeners with blending fresh new styles with a healthy dose of inspiration from classic genre cinema soundtracks. Every record had its own theme, meticulously followed by each instrumental. On his latest EP, Sellergren took on sound of the golden era of post-apocalyptic movies, with all of their grime and strangeness, and owned it. "Gladiatori dell'Apocalypse" sees Videogram following quite a different sonical path than the ones he explored on previous records. The signature sound is still present, but the tracks are more beat-sy, flashy and oddly danceable. If you ever wanted to get down in the wasteland, the soundtrack's right here. More than an excercise in imagining the music of the depraved, gasoline-deficient, steel and leather clad unspecified future, the latest EP shows an evolution of Videogram. Whether you've been following his music from day one, or just discovered the project, "Gladiatori..." offers a rich and immersive sound with a flawless production. - Jan Klein, Trash Mutant

Hot on the heels of the well-received "Camp Blood" 10" picture disc, Magnus Sellergren, aka Videogram, set out to expand his sounds with the Italian-titled eight-track post-apocalyptic EP "Gladiatori dell'Apocalisse". Intended as a mini-soundtrack for an imaginary 1980's genre effort, Videogram drew inspiration from such vast and varied sources as Goblin's "Buio Omega", Paul Hardcastle, Claudio Simonetti's solo soundtrack work of the 1980's, novelty disco tracks and Piero Umiliani; effortlessly blending them together to create a sound that is truly his own. Not the first effort on this genre (post-apocalyptic tracks appeared on both his "S/T" digital debut and "Pre-Cert" on Cineploit), this allnew EP sees a technical and compositional growth from the artist, creating a new and exciting path for soundtrack-influenced music! If you're into dark and interesting synth wave, check Videogram out. Inspired by '80s post-apocalyptic and exploitation films, this music perfectly personifies the glory of analogue action and horror. I'm a fan of Videogram for life...and beyond! - david j. moore, author of WORLD GONE WILD: A SURVIVOR'S GUIDE TO POST-APOCALYPTIC MOVIES and THE GOOD, THE TOUGH, AND THE DEADLY: ACTION MOVIES AND STARS.

BIBLE SEA

Band:HOLLOW SUNSHINE
Album:BIBLE SEA
Label:IRON PIER
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Indie/Shoegaze

Bible Sea is the new all-electronic MLP from California’s Hollow Sunshine, the duo of acclaimed visual artist Reuben Sawyer (Deafheaven, Chelsea Wolfe, art, etc.) and Morgan Enos (Other Houses, Hheaven). In contrast to Hollow Sunshine’s previous LPs Held Above and Bring Gold, Bible Sea ditches all semblance of a rock band in favor of disfigured samples, 808 sequences, and driving industrial percussion. A harsh, otherworldly musical atmosphere is soothed by Enos’s melodic vocal approach. Enos sees the lyrical theme of this lush darkwave masterpiece as “spiritual weaponry” while main instrumentalist Reuben Sawyer says that the sounds are “cold and alienating, which is a good thing… the vocals remain sensitive while the music is buried in this digital muck and can’t find a way out.

Previous Praise for Hollow Sunshine: “a sublime slice of downer pop” (Pitchfork); “do not be ashamed of your love for really good dreampop” (Invisible Oranges); “a unique conflation” of abrasion and effervescence” (IMPOSE Magazine).

For fans of Galaxie 500,In My Rosary, Salem, Lycia, MBV, Mazzy Star, Have A Nice Life, and Yo La Tengo.
