LA DISCOTEQUE PSYCHEDELIQUE

Band:VARIOUS ARTISTS
Album:LA DISCOTEQUE PSYCHEDELIQUE
Label:BOSS A TONE
Format:LP
Genre:POPSIKE-FOLK/60S/70S RARE GROOVES

17 Late 60s/Early 70s Trans-European Folky Funky & Pop-Sike Tunes.
As suggested by the subtitle itself, this psychedelique dance floor in between late Sixties and early Seventies
presents a great selection of funky grooves, usually with at least slightly progressive touch to it, with just an
occasional detour towards the folky or pop-sike side of the matter.
These kind of a bit more conventional entries also happen to be the best ones as well, featuring Tony Ritchie’s fuzzy blue-eyed soul stomper Could You Really Live Without Her (released on Miki Dallon’s Youngblood label), along with the pair of Gene Latter’s The Old Iron Bell, or thee more progressively funky side of things, Roundhouse’s Alchemy Is Good For You and Electra Combo’s Uber Feur are both as groovily catchy as it gets within the genre, and the same goes for the Britsike-gone-danceabe-proggy post-Velvet Fogg combo The Ghost’s I’ve Got To Get To Know You and finally the Italian 1972 radio hit single Mister E. Jones by Nuova Idea gets pretty catchy as well, in spite of the just as progressive overtone. Also included is an incredibly surprising cover of The (pre-Creation) Mark Four’s single side Work All Day, as done by the German band Tony Hendrik, sticking to the tune’s initial pop-artish mod vibe.

CONTINUUM (WHITE VINYL)

Band:SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI
Album:CONTINUUM (WHITE VINYL)
Label:H42 Records
Format:LP
Genre:STONER/DESERT ROCK

The wait is over. Over a decade since the release of the debut album Sons of Alpha Centauri return for their second
full-length album – an epic introspective journey of abrasive and ambient progressive electronic alt rock entitled
Continuum. Continuum is wrought with dark anthems and intense textures, introspective interludes with tidal waves
of distortion. It is awash with soaring melodies and a deep underpinning of the darker side of light.
The second album has been a long time coming for the UK quartet who having reflected upon their collaborations
with Karma to Burn and Yawning Man had initially looked to record their sophomore album back in 2009.
‘Continuum’ sees a development of the heavier blended concepts expressed on the debut album. The band’s crew
remains the same as the debut Nick Hannon (bass), Marlon King (guitars), Blake (electronics) and Stevie B (drums).
“The band carries a duality,” Hannon says. “this was reflected in the debut which carried two distinct tones, one dark
and one light. We were going to record an album in 2009, but that record went onto become the Yawning Sons
debut so instead they worked on a much darker reflection of the band for the second album.”
This darker reflection needed to interface seamlessly as both a dedicated chapter continuing on from the debut and
as a musical milestone in its own right. In order to do this the band approached Aaron Harris of the legendary and
phenomenally influencial post metal titans ‘ISIS’ to produce, mix and engineer the album.

SCARLET FEVER (RED VINYL)

Band:GREEN SEAGULL
Album:SCARLET FEVER (RED VINYL)
Label:MEGA DODO
Format:LP
Genre:Rock/Pop

Green Seagull formed in 2016 when Paul Nelson (New Electric Ride) approached Paul Milne (Hidden Masters / Magnetic Mind) to work on some songs together. A shared enthusiasm for late‐60s baroque psychedelia and 12‐string jangle soon blossomed into a prolific songwriting team, and before long the duo had more songs than they knew what to do with. Their harmony‐laden baroque/freakbeat sound draws upon influences such as the Left Banke, the Kinks, and the Association.

Band:MR BISON
Album:HOLY OAK
Label:Subsound Records
Format:CD Digipack
Genre:ROCK/STONER/PSYCH

In a few years Mr Bison established themselves as one of the most exciting combos in the game, that’s a fact. After “We’ll be brief” and the critically acclaimed “Asteroid” , which got them on the genre's map, a U.S.A tour, dozens of gigs in the Italian peninsula, opening concerts for DANKO JONES, RED FANG, MONDO GENERATOR, KARMA TO BURN, MY SLEEPING KARMA, and many more, and a packed Europen tour, Matteo Barsacchi (guitar, Vocals) and his fellow "bluesnauts" Matteo Sciocchetto (vocals , guitar) and Matteo D’Ignazi (drums, sound effect/vocals) are back with the new HOLY OAK. The band keeps its own atypical lineup, isn’t a classic trio guitar drums bass … in addition to the skin they have Two guitars that together creating a massive wall of sound where the listener may not hear the absence of the bassguitar.

Album:DESERT MOON
Label:PATAPHYSIQUE RECORDS
Format:CD
Genre:Psychedelic, Experimental

Finally, there is a release of a miraculous collaboration between the two musicians from Tokyo underground scene and Anla Courtis, the leader of Reynols- the legendary experimental band of Argentina. It was recorded in studio during the time Anla was in Tokyo in January, 2015. It is not just a simple improvised session, but truly a very colorful psychedelic album with roaring noise to minimalistic onkyo works, approach to ethnical music and vocal songs.
